Heartland has assured the industry and the public that the breach was limited to only credit/debit card information- including information on the magnetic stripe, but did not
include cardholder social security numbers, unencrypted personal identification numbers (PIN), addresses or telephone numbers.
While not all accounts will experience any fraudulent transactions, it is important for all
cardholders to closely monitor their statements as it can take months for charges to appear after a security breach.
Heartland Payments Systems has set up a website to keep Merchants, Cardholders, and Issuers informed of the latest information regarding the data breach. Please visit
www.2008breach.com for the most up-to-date information.
